Rakotzbrücke is a (now purely ornamental) semicircular stone bridge spanning a small lake, in which it reflects—creating a circle (📷1). It was commissioned by Rötschke in the village of Kromlau, built 1866–75. In nearby Bad Muskau, Muskauer Park | Park Mużakowski is a large, UNESCO-listed landscape garden developed by Prince von Pückler-Muskau from 1815–44. His Neues Schloss | Nowy Zamek had been destroyed in WWII & was rebuilt by 2013 in a Neo-Renaissance style (📷2). The park spans the River Neiße, with Germany on one side & #Poland on the other (📷3). Joint maintenance of the park is said to symbolise international collaboration & cultural reconciliation. Görlitz, the easternmost town in Germany, lies on the same river border to the south; the Altstadt | Old Town is remarkably well-preserved, having been only lightly bombed during WWII (📷4).
