I've been saying for a while, the real struggle, more than the fight for privacy, is the fight against information asymmetry. ICE and other enforcers of authority can see us through multitudes of Flock and other cameras, while we see can't even see their faces when they're in our faces. Even 30, 40, 50 years ago it was customary for cops to wear mirror shades. Perhaps you could recognize them, but you couldn't see their eyes. Not all information asymmetry is in the visual domain. There is also information asymmetry in accounting systems, where the question is, who is accountable to whom? We need to rewrite the world in ways that replace accountability with transparency, or accountability of systems and institutions to the larger public, really the largest public, worldwide humanity, while maintaining privacy for individuals. The current trend is toward the exact opposite. #pubwan
