As I have been concerned would occur, it is being reported that the Trump administration has put excellent longtime Voice of America reporter Steve Herman on extended absence -- I would assume for his excellent, unbiased reporting.

His personal account here on #Mastodon @w7voa is among the most informative and useful on the platform.

Trudeau just posted, on Twitter, his continued support for Ukraine. He did not mention the United States.

I used the JoinSocialBC account to implore him to find or create a Canadian social media platform to use for his outreach.

Edit:
Gerade noch gefunden:
"Thorium - The Fastest Browser on Earth"

"We're on the brink of another world browser war"

Fazit:

I can think of no better an illustration of US oligarchy than breaking the utterly dependable, absolutely world-class National Weather Service so that a few men can "purchase" it and then "win" a contract with the US government to provide a lesser level of service for a higher fee, overnight creating one of the most profitable companies in the world, which they will own.

I got banned from Reddit! I think I got honey-potted into commenting on conservative subreddits and then had my words manipulated into rule breaking and apparently this is a thing! I feel so weird, I think this is part of the online war we're all experiencing.

The need to harm other humans is so full on. I definitely see how it's a function of child abuse. I'm trying to not let it affect me but it does trigger my abandonment stuff 💔 I'm trying to look at it from another perspective, it will give me an opportunity to read more. I've wanted to read more for so long and social media really does snatch up all those micro spaces of time to do things.

That site has been deteriorating fast, it's sad what is happening in online spaces. I'm really grateful for this place though 💕

Joe Biden failed one significant moral test but that's not enough for me fo ignore all the good things his administration accomplished. But more than that, I miss the calm of a dedicated President, the desperation of news agencies to manufacture headlines because Joe was simply waking up and doing his job. The daily chaos of the Orange Stain stands in stark contrast to the steady, if imperfect, delivery of public service Biden provided.

I fear you are right. The “special relationship” the UK has with the USA appears to place us in a subservient role. I’ve been thinking that for many years - ever since I developed any political awareness. It was clear that Brexit was about weakening Britain’s ties with Europe and making us more vulnerable.

I was playing some dumb mobile game and a 'playable' advert for a game called Conquer Countries came up... The only way to win the advert game is to select the most awful right wing choices for society, including choosing to build prisons over schools and universities, investing heavily in AI and lowering taxes. Is this some kind of right wing plant game designed to influence kids into being conservative arseholes? I think it might be!

"New Yorkers Rally in Times Square to tell Trump Congestion Pricing is Staying Put!" [5:50 min]
by Streetfilms

youtube.com/watch?v=R-HtACNuv3…

Quote by Sf:
"Feb 23, 2025
On Saturday hundreds of angry New Yorkers came out to tell President Trump and his Transportation Secretary that Congestion Pricing is here and we cannot go back to the way before when the city was choked with traffic.
Since Congestion Pricing was implemented almost 2 months ago: the number of vehicles entering NYC has dropped, car commuting times in to the city are quicker, there are fewer automobile accidents, bus trip times have decreased, the number of people on mass transit has risen and the number of fatal crashes and injuries has nosedived.
And add to that that the city noise on the streets is more comfortable, Broadway tickets sales are up over 2024, the sense of safety and comfortability is noticeable, children are getting to school on time from their buses, crime is down in the subway and loads more great indicators.
Governor Kathy Hochul, MTA CEO Janno Liber, city elected officials and residents & advocacy groups are taking the Trump Administration to court as they believe the administration have no grounds to revoke the permission that gave to New York State to start the growing-more-popular program."

The #Trump Admin Keeps Citing an Untrue Stat as It Targets #FederalWorkers

Later in Dec, a TV report cited the editor’s note & labeled the 6% number as “false.” At about the same time, PolitiFact looked at #MikeJohnson’s claim that only 1% of #FederalWorkers show up to work each day & labeled it “pants on fire,” the fact-checking site’s lowest rating for a statement that is “not accurate & makes a ridiculous claim.”

That should have ended the conversation. But it didn’t.

On Jan. 20, #Trump’s first day in office, the White House issued a statement that obliquely referred to #Musk’s coming assault on #FederalAgencies. It said Trump was “planning for improved accountability of government bureaucrats. The American people deserve the highest-quality service from people who love our country. The President will also return federal workers to work, as only 6% of employees currently work in person.”

I'm pretty sure that special government employees are still subject to the required drug testing, which was instituted by President Reagan under Executive Order 12564. Public Law 100-71 makes it clear that the Executive Office of the President is subject to these requirements as well. Just in case anyone wants to use that information for anything.

I personally would’ve been polite at first, but as #DictatorTrump ramped up his attacks, I would’ve lost it and told him to fuck off.
